PORKFARM from the UK lay waste to this earth with their punishing hymns of pork-infested death metal laced with grindcore. Mawing every last morsel of blood soaked meat until each carcass is picked clean, Porkfarm take this rotten carnage to nth degree to create Blood Harvest, the band's debut recording for Deepsend Records.

Debut EP from this UK band, who play a slaughtering form of gore-infused death metal, kind of like Gorerotted meets Aborted.

Although nothing amazingly original, I find this EP to be extremely enjoyable and as a big fan of most of the releases on Deep Send I can honestly say that I wasn't disappointed.

First off, the drummer in this band is as technically proficient as ANYONE in death metal regardless of sub-genre. He pulls off the the extremely fast double bass, and the majorly fast blast beats(including gravity blasts) at the high speeds displayed on the album so well it often sounds like an extremely well programed drum machine. The guitars are somewhat generic sounding as far as riffing goes, mainly staccato(tremolo) picking and the standard palm muted chords, which remind me of a mix between suffocation and brain drill(minus the gratuitous amount of sweep picking and tapping) especially on the tracks "severed and bound" and "torn apart", which are by far the best on the album. The vocals are also well done and are comprised of both standard high pitched screams and low growls.

As far as production value goes I give it an 8.5 out of 10. The drums are very well produced, and the kick and snare drums come through extremely well and are somewhat reminiscent of the drums on a Beneath the Massacre album. The guitars are also well produced, yet lack a little low end(probably in favor of clarity) which is greatly needed in a brutal album such as this. The overall mix is great, even though it leaves out the bass guitar as do most recordings of this type, even though the slack is picked up by of course the drums.

Overall I think any fan of death metal would more than appreciate this album. This is a very good effort by Pork Farm and I am excited to see what they bring to the table in the future.
