Stylewise, this young Belgian band is energetic Death metal, with expressions of Grindcore and the severe straightforwardness of Hardcore. When you think about the Belgian extreme music scene, you'll certainly think of Agathocles, Aborted, Enthroned, Ancient Rites or maybe even Punished Earth. Now Belgium strikes again! Emerging from West Flanders, Murder Intentions offer us the very first full length release entitled "A Prelude To Total Decay". Obviously their two self-financed demos drove these guys into Soulflesh Collectors arms, who are responsible for launching this real brutal Death / Grind CD.

Murder Intentions songs vary from crushing mid tempo Death Metal parts to violent Grindcore assaults and back again. Downtuned guitars, a heavily distorted bass and diversified drumming make sure no one will get bored by the compositions on this interesting release. The dual vocals range from dark growls to hoarse screams and help to leave a lasting impact. Lyrically everything's about anger, hate and explosions of the adrenaline level, which also reflects in the song writing. Continuous stop n' go parts will be the cause of your prospective neck ache. The constant but fortunately not too excessive use of samples fits the general impression pretty good and brings a kind of a disturbing aspect to the whole album. The recording quality on "A Prelude To Total Decay" is absolutely heavy. No noisy or muddy crap found its way on this gruff and very intense album. 9 tracks in just about 30 minutes of total playing time are enough to boost the brutality on a real high level.

"A Prelude To Total Decay" really surprised me and I can't help but thinking of earlier Aborted and Skinless during my repeated listening sessions. Well, that's not a too bad comparison, isn't it? Check this ambitious band out if you like straight forward Death/Grind with a pissed off attitude. Definitely worth to keep an eye on!
