ASHEN LIGHT was forged during 1997, debuting two years later with 'Pesn' Velesa' for More Hate Productions then the 2000 session 'Stary Bilini/ Slavenskie Vechera'. In 2000 a mass defection of ASHEN LIGHT personnel vocalist / bassist Vsegard, guitarist Gmur, keyboard player Niyan and Smurd united with guitarist Visionary to found symphonic Black Metal band ATRA MUSTUM. Founder guitarist Alex rebuilt ASHEN LIGHT by introducing keyboard player Katherine in 2001 and bassist Lexx the following year.

ASHEN LIGHT's February 2003 album 'In Accomplice Suffering: Conviction Is Hell' contained cover versions of MAYHEM's 'Deathcrush', DARKTHRONE's 'Transylvanian Hunger' and IMMORTAL's 'The Hordes Of Nebulah'. Session drums came from Blazheniy Amariy.
